Shops and restaurants nearby. Balconies and sea breeze galore but no beach view. Exceptionally clean and comfortable. Lots of room and well-laid out. Would definitely return again. Remember to bring all extras for coffee and cooking.

Good. VRBO should require all their properties to have an 11:00 a.m. check out the day of leaving this particular company wanted to kick us to the curb at 10:00 on a Sunday morning 11:00 that extra hour makes all the difference in the world.

There were a few issues we encountered with the house. One was a step on the staircase going up to the top floor. The steps are carpeted and there was one step that the edge of it seems to be deteriorating under the carpet, it was the third step down from the top floor. One of our guests stepped on it going down the stairs and it kind of gave way and he fell down a few stairs and hurt his shoulder. If you touch the edge with your hand, it feels like it is broken under the carpet (I have a picture of the step if there is an address to email it). Definitely a SAFETY issue that should be fixed before it gets worse. Another issue is with the tub in the guest bathroom on the second floor, it is SUPER slippery and there was NO bath tub mat available to put in the bottom of the tub. We had to put a towel down in the tub and it was still EXTREMELY slippery, a definite SAFETY issue that I'm surprised no one has mentioned before. Also, there are shelves in the den area on the main floor off the kitchen with books on them and we pulled a book out to look at it and the whole shelf fell down because one of the tabs holding it underneath was missing. That was a bit of a safety issue too, luckily my husband grabbed it before it fell onto him, it could have hurt him. Oh, one other thing that we thought was unusual is that there are no TV's in the bedrooms. We like to watch a little TV before bed and watch some news in the morning while getting ready and we were surprised to discover no TV's on the third floor after we arrived.

We had a wonderful time staying at Summer Hour Retreat. The house was clean and spacious, which is good with three kids 6 and under. The house was clean and well stocked with start-up toiletries and kitchen utensils. It was within walking distance to the village area with shops and restaurants. We had a pre-arrival issue that was handled wonderfully by Susan and the Lilmar team. We will definitely stay here again if we visit St. Simons Island in the future.

We were very happy with this property. It’s so close to all the restaurants and pool/pier area. It was fun walking to water and looking for crabs when the tide was low. This place is fabulous. First, it is within walking distance from downtown St. Simon and the beach. My wife and I went to breakfast in the early in the morning and walked the beach afterwards. I prepared dinner and my wife and I enjoyed dining on the balcony just off of the living room. The neighborhood is peaceful.....it was nice listening to the birds talk to each other while we ate. We parked our car in the garage provided and walked everywhere. This 2300 Square foot treasure had everything you need to make you are at home away from home.

Fantastic value for 6 people. Attention to detail was evident - every room had everything we needed. Kitchen had all the essential tools, pots, pans, dishes, soaps, bathrooms had soaps and towels, master bath had an amazing walk in shower, game room kept the kids busy with ping pong, foosball and cornhole. TV was easy to navigate. All the light switches labeled, furnishings were well kept and comfortable. AC and fans worked great.Property is a very short walk to beach access. Four beach chairs and towels available. A little bit longer walk but very easy access to 11th st access that gave you the entire beach front.Another short walk to a slew of shops and restaurants.We were able to rent a golf cart for the week that let the teen boys we had with us get around.My wife said "we'll definitely be back, this house was perfect for us!"I almost didn't want to write this review at the risk of letting others in on the secret.We give this property our highest recommendation!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our second long stay at A Summer Hour Retreat. The house is bright, spacious, immaculate, and in a great location for walking to Pier Village. Located in a quiet, upscale neighborhood, the house is a short block from the Sound with water and Jekyll Island views from its top deck. The furnishings, both inside and out, are updated and comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped and a gas grill on the lower level added to cooking options. It was nice to have the enclosed garage (now a game room) to store bicycles. Beach chairs and children’s sand toys were a nice bonus. The house has almost a tree house feel as, at 3 stories, its porches sit pleasantly above the street. This is a lovely property. I would add that the team at Lilmar is on the ball, from the reservation stage to questions, to any requests. They are quick to respond and a pleasure to work with.

We loved the house. It is tastefully decorated and fully equipped. The beds are comfortable. It was immaculately clean. The location is an easy walk to Mallory Street. Being able to park in the garage was a real benefit.

The house we rented was excellent. Super clean. Lilmar Is a great company rent from very quick communications, very clear instructions, In the house was super clean with everything we needed. We always book directly through them instead of VRBO It seems to be less expensive The houses is location was great. If you're older and have a hard time with stairs, that's about the only downside. That included garage was great to build to keep our golf cart in. Will definitely be booking through Lilmar again.

Loved that it had two king size beds, which would make it great if a mother-in-law was coming along, or for a trip of two couples with or without children. Our twelve year-old was with us, and he loved that this location allowed him to walk everywhere. Space is abundant, so you are not on top of one another. Bring coffee pods, because there was a Keurig machine without them.

The house was more than we expected, the interior furnishings were beautiful, the rooms were spacious, and the house was exceptionally clean and well decorated. We loved the top deck located off the master bedroom where we sat out and looked at the ocean. We also really enjoyed the front deck where we could sit out have dinner or sit in the rocking chairs and relax. Overall, this was an exceptional experience, and we highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay at a lovely property near all the restaurants, shops of the village and close to the beach in a very quiet neighborhood.

This was a wonderful and comfortable home for two couples. Only caveat is there are lots of stairs (we knew this going in based on pictures) that could be a factor for handicapped or elderly.

Every part of the check in process and stay was seamless. Amazing location. House was well appointed and very comfortable. We are looking forward to renting again next summer. My only feedback would be: Clean couch/pillow upholstery better between families (couch pillows had an odor) Clean mold/mildew properly from the master bathroom ceiling (very strong smell in bathroom/master shower) Provide a few toys for littler kids (board games were great for older kids) Provide extra blankets in the master or a heavier comforter

Cleanliness is very important to us when considering a vacation rental; and this property delivered. There was ample room for our family of 6, and the kitchen was the best stocked vacation kitchen we have ever rented. The only criticism I have is to be aware that the “shared pool” is a pass to the community pool. And although the facility is nice, it is geared toward young children, and closed on Tuesdays - the day we had slotted to be a pool day! We would consider making a reservation here again based on cleanliness and space.

We were so pleased to find that this house was as beautiful in person as the online photos. Especially notable was that it was spotlessly clean. The house was tastefully decorated, well-equipped, and comfortable. Located just 2 blocks from Pier Village, it was an easy to walk to the pier, shops, restaurants. Very nice property tho the list of rules seemed endless - mostly just common sense. There were 2 coffee makers but no coffee. In fact no basic supplies at all, except some dried herbs etc. We didn’t want to buy lots of food as we were only there 4 days, so a few pods of coffee would have been appreciated. Most vrbos I’ve stayed at supply some necessities, and most residents leave stuff they can’t use. Very spacious house in great location.

We had the BEST stay when our family came to St. Simons for the first time to attend a friend's wedding! We stayed for 4 nights and really enjoyed the house. It's extremely spacious, and the location was perfect - walkable to the Village but also very quiet, even over the weekend nights we were there. Loved the front porch, which could accommodate everyone and was fine even in the August heat thanks to the ceiling fan and an ocean breeze. There are a lot of steps to get to the front door and then the bedrooms, so this might not be the best place for anyone with limited mobility. The beach near the house is on the muddier side but fun for exploring. Lots of hermit crabs of all sizes! My only small complaint is that king beds were creaky and not the most comfortable, but not a significant enough issue that we wouldn't stay here again.

Great house. Very clean & accommodating. We would return. Two items need attention: smoke detector in basement needs new batteries, fan above master bath toilet not functioning. It hums but does not ventilate.

Our family of five (including three teenagers) loved our stay at Summer Hour Retreat. The house was spacious—plenty of room for all of us—and the location was unbeatable. We walked into town, to the pier, and rented bikes to ride in the neighborhood (where we admired all the beautiful beach homes!). Our kids loved walking to the end of the cul de sac to see if it was low or high tide so they could look for shells in the beach. We especially enjoyed the front porch where we drank coffee in the morning! Definitely a five star find!

This house was beautiful and is in great location to shops and places to eat, but it is a bit of a drive to the Sandy beach where you can spend the day in St Simons. The beach access on this house’s street is only accessible during low tide times. The location is idea to the fishing pie, walking to shops and dinner, but I would definitely suggest renting a golf cart for the convenience of getting around the island! The house has been beautifully renovated, but master bedroom is not the quietest - there are creaks and unidentifiable noises most of the night even with sound machines on. The master bed is also noisy when moving around while sleeping. The dryer seems to have something wrong where it won’t shut off even after the clothes are dry and wrinkle reducer is turned off but that could have been user error as well. The last day, we could not get the dryer to heat to dry the towels either. Overall, we loved the house and loved our time spent at St Simons!!!!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this property! The anticipation and timing of check in and check out e mails from the team was perfect. The location is just perfect. Park the car and walk every where. St Simons is such a delightful town to shop and find all sorts of restaurants. One member of our group had to hop on/off work calls and used the library and was always within a few blocks to join us . The house! Amazing. Really. I mean it. Comfortable and welcoming and well appointed. I so enjoyed morning coffee on the porch. This was a bucket list trip left over from childhood. I am a terrible sleeper and I slept soundly and comfortably each night. I give this property the very highest recommendation. Sincerest thank you .

The house was as stated in description, even more. A very short walk to stores/restaurants. In a quiet neighborhood. Our teens spend a lot of time in basement playing ping pong. We loved the home and location. Well stocked kitchen and comfortable beds. Very clean. Great master shower. The only complaint would be that the ice maker did not provide any ice and the gas grill only had a small amount of gas. We were not able to cook the steaks on the grill and had to resort to using the stove to cook them. Other than those 2 issues, we absolutely loved our stay.

We loved the location being close to the pier and restaurants. We hadn't anticipated the weather being so nice-- a short drive to East Beach made for the perfect day. Rooms were large and clean. Very large TV in living room was nice. Only disappointment in the kitchen was that there wasnt a frying pan. Agency was very easy to work with-- instructions for check in and check out were made very clear. Would stay here again.

Incredible stay. Seems the house was professionally, and beautifully decorated. Ceiling fans abundant.Free flowing with ample space up and down. Kitchen well stocked with maximum functionality. Location is excellent… close to Village and river beach. My only gripe is why guests are left with unexplainable minimum garbage bags and soap. Just doesn’t make sense.

My sister and I stayed here with our young adult children. We stayed two weeks and loved this house. It was comfortable and had all the nicety's of home. It was clean and we enjoyed coffee each morning on the front porch. Ping Pong tournaments were fun downstairs too. Walking distance to shops and good restaurants.Decorated perfect! We had a wonderful trip.

We had a great week at this place! It was very clean, the couches and beds were comfortable. The porch was wonderful and the short walk to the beach was enjoyed by my boys to use the sand toys from the garage. Beautiful house on St. Simon Island that was perfect for a long weekend. Very close to the beach with several public access points and also close to the small shopping and restaurant area near the lighthouse. The property is open and spacious. The main floor has plenty of room. All the bedrooms are on the top floor. The master suite is extremely large with a wonderful two headed shower with plenty of space. There are a number of steps to get up to the main floor due to sea islands building codes, but other than the steps it was fantastic.

The property is open and spacious. The main floor has plenty of room. All the bedrooms are on the top floor. The master suite is extremely large with a wonderful two headed shower with plenty of space. Awesome place! We loved the location as expected. The house was spacious for our needs. Master bed & bath are great. A lot of room and comfortable. Guest rooms were more than enough for additional guests. The kitchen had ample space for "group" cooking and was well equipped. My favorite was the front porch. A very peaceful area to hang out! I would stay there every time we have the chance to visit St. Simons!

When three friends from three different states walked in, we knew immediately we had made a great decision. The photos did not do justice to the property. They cannot capture the feeling of home that being there created. The home is spacious with plenty of areas for everyone to be together or to themselves. The comfortable, well-appointed home included a well- equipped kitchen, a large living room perfect for catching up, a dining room., and a den. Upstairs, the bedrooms were beautifully decorated, the beds were comfortable, the laundry convenient and the master bath impressive. We also enjoyed the great location; the neighborhood was quiet and the proximity to town's Main Street was great. Honestly, we loved everything, except rain the first half of the week, and the cork screw which defeated all three of us.

We had an excellent experience with this property. The beds were very comfy and the water pressure was great in the showers (both very important to me!). The kitchen was very well stocked and everything was updated. We loved the large front porch…perfect gathering to escape the sun. The neighborhood is within walking distance of shops and restaurants. I would not recommend the beach down the street during the day because of the tides but we rode are bikes to a great wide beach. You can ride/walk down the entire beach from our street during low tide. I would highly recommend this property and we would stay there again!

A Summer Hour’s Retreat was phenomenal! It was probably the best stocked rental property I have rented…they really thought of everything! We absolutely loved it! A big highlight was the porches - amazing for outdoor eating and spending time with family chatting and enjoying the sea breeze. Close proximity to the town center made it easy to walk to food, coffee, or a walk on the pier and low-tide beach. Will come back next year. Highly recommend.

Our family of four (two children ages 13 and 10) stayed at this property for a week in late March 2021. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about our stay at this property. It is even better than it looks in the pictures, and is extremely well maintained and clean. We were a little nervous about staying somewhere other than our own home during the pandemic, and this property was immaculate. It was also very nicely and thoughtfully appointed throughout - from the kitchen (nice silverware, serving ware, pots/pans, containers), to the bathrooms (which had good quality soft, clean towels), to the family room, which had comfortable sofas and nice finishes. The home got beautiful light from all of the windows, while still being surrounded by a lush tree canopy, and had beautiful porches with rocking chairs and tables to spend more time outdoors. Our family enjoyed the location of this property because it was a very easy and close walk to the "Pier Village" with quaint shops and good restaurants. It was also less than a block to the water. It is walkable to some of the beaches on Saint Simons Island, but perhaps not the "best" beaches. So if you'd like to be walking distance to the nicest beaches on East Beach, this is a little far to walk, especially with all of your beach gear. But it is a very easy drive to those beaches, and there was plenty of parking at various places along East Beach, so we didn't think it was an issue at all. Overall, we really liked the location of this property. The hosts/property management company were also very good. The communication with them was clear, the check-in and check-out instructions were easy to follow, and they had helpful information about Saint Simmons Island in the house. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway, and there is nothing we would say needs improvement.

Our family loved staying in this home! The location is amazing and we walked into town everyday. The kids said they ONLY want to stay in this home when we come back to St. Simons :) The ping pong and foosball came in handy on the rainy day- we had family tournaments for hours! I rented the property for a few days to work on a novel I’m writing, and the space was perfect! It was very serene and beautifully decorated with lovely views from the porches and nice decorative touches in the ship lap and tabby. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen had high end appliances and every thing you can think of to cook with, and the location was perfect for walking to Pier Village. The neighborhood is also very safe and quiet. I will definitely book again when I get the chance and highly recommend this house for couples, families, and groups of friends visiting St Simons!

The beds were comfortable, the kitchen had high end appliances and every thing you can think of to cook with, and the location was perfect for walking to Pier Village. The neighborhood is also very safe and quiet. I will definitely book again when I get the chance and highly recommend this house for couples, families, and groups of friends visiting St Simons!

This rental is absolutely gorgeous! It has literally everything you need. The location is perfect; only a 5 minute walk to Pier Village. Just about 200 yards from the beach. It’s worth noting that this beach can only be accessed at low-tide. East Beach is where we spent most of our beach time. This was honestly probably the cleanest rental I’ve ever stayed in. My family of five loved this home. Spacious, decorated beautifully, included everything essential in the kitchen, comfortable beds. I stayed in the two headed shower for about an hour! Short walk to the beach, which was sparsely populated, which we appreciated during these COVID-19 times. Beware you can only access the beach during low and mid tides, but who goes to the beach for more than 12 hours at a time anyway? You are walking distance to all the shops and pier, so one can just head there or relax and watch their huge TV. Communication was great with the company and property owners, but we had no problems so all we did was talk before the stay. I would recommend this house to anyone. If there is any downside, you just have to check the tide schedule before you head to the beach, as at high tide it is not accessible. This is a small detail and easily managed. There is plenty to do at the house or walking to the shops during this time. Spoil yourself and family and rent this house! 5 stars!

We were able to completely unplug, relax and forget corona for a bit in this adorable house. It had everything you could possibly need, was absolutely spotless and decorated just beautifully. The location was perfect for our younger children to have some independence in exploring Pier Village. It was our first trip to St. Simon's as a family and this house was a winner!!

We arrived at the Bare Feet Retreat and were overwhelmed by the details in the decorations, high end appliances, convenience to the downtown, walking to the end of the street for sunsets, looking for shells at low tide by walking to the end of our street, amazing sunrises. If Joanna Gaines decorated a beach house, this would be the one. Perfect location for meandering down to the beach with the kiddos, perfect location for walking to The Village for shopping and a glass of wine - we parked our car and didn't get back in it except to go to Harris Teeters and Crabdaddy's. Cooks - you will thoroughly enjoy the chef's kitchen stocked with everything you will need from Le Creuset to amazing high end appliances, warming drawer, under counter microwave, French door refrigerator, gorgeous kitchen linens, the best cookbooks. We enjoyed every design element and feature in this home. Amazing collection of books to enjoy. The owners left a beautiful welcome basket with wine, Stonewall Kitchen scones, chips and salsa - wow! The seating area on the second floor was so charming. High quality, beautifully decorated home in the best location. We loved being able to walk everywhere. We loved the small town feel. We just got back from a 4 night stay at Bare Feet Retreat. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a welcome basket full of goodies! This was a lovely surprise and gave us a nice first impression when we got there. From booking, to questions while we were there, to checkout, Lilmar Properties made our stay even more enjoyable. They were always available and quick to respond. My only suggestion is to offer a weekly rate. We had to pay a nightly rate and wanted to stay longer, but there was no weekly rate. In regards to the actual house, the décor was absolutely goergeous! We stayed in the house more than we typically do on a vacation because we enjoyed being there so much. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone! We drove to the nearest beach with sand which was about .50 mile. The Wi-fi was not good, but the kids survived! Hope to come again soon!
