Getting Around St. Simons Island

Getting There

If you’re coming in from out of town, there are a variety of methods you can use to reach the island. St. Simons does have an airport, so if it’s in the budget you can book a connecting flight from Atlanta to Brunswick, then catch a cab or rent a car and finish off your trip with a short 30-minute drive into town. It is also possible to get from Atlanta to St. Simons by bus, but the route isn’t exactly direct and will take up most of your day, running at around eight hours of bus travel in addition to your air travel. However you choose to make the trip to St. Simons, once you’re there, getting around is easy.

Taxis, Uber, and Lyft

There are several taxi services that make getting around St. Simons Island nice and easy. Once you’re in the heart of the town, you won’t have to worry much about needing any extra transportation, but the taxi services are available to get you back and forth. Like with many taxi services, you’ll be able to call in advance to schedule your ride or make a phone call as needed.

Lyft and Uber are also available rideshare services while you’re in town. Always keep in mind that these services are limited by driver availability, and prices fluctuate based on time and demand.
