St. Simons Island Light is an important, operational lighthouse that guides ships into the St. Simons Sound and prevents beaching on the many sandbars in the area. You can dig deep into the history of the lighthouse at the St. Simons Lighthouse Museum, housed in the original Keeper’s Dwelling onsite, and even climb the 129 steps to the top for panoramic views of the area!
